Scouts

Our Scouting program consists of several groups. The newest group, Ship 6, was active sailing in small groups and doing the repairs and training necessary to run a good program. Currently, we are building a sailboat at the Toms River Seaport museum which is home base. We have been given a bay in the workshop to meet and build. We look forward to a great summer of building and sailing. Ship 6 is a coed Scout Program for youth 14 to 20 years old.

Troop 600, our female troop, camps and works on required achievements. They help with all service projects at the church. Currently, we have 10 females in our troop. Troop 600 is for girls ages 10 through 18.

Our Cub Scouts of Pack 6 have work on skills and advancement. We have our staple events like Pinewood Derby and Blue and Gold Dinner. Pack 6 is co-ed for children kindergarten through 5th grade.

Scout Troop 6 is the church's oldest youth group, chartered in 1929. They enjoy many trips including camping on the beach at Barnegat Light. We continue camping at least once a month. We also participate in many church service projects as well as Eagle service projects four Scouts attaining the rank of eagle. The troop continues to work with Jersey Shore Council, running events like Webelos Woods for our district and Council.

Crew 66 is coed for ages 14-20. The group continues to focus on helping Scouts with leadership development and presentation skills. The crew assists with youth and adult Scout training. That gives them opportunities to present a topic to their peers as well as adults with valuable feedback to help them improve. Several of our Scouts have been chosen to be on the teaching staff at Philmont Scout Reservation in New Mexico.
